Re-imagine

Using your imagination to take a visual journey to a peaceful, calming place or situation can help to relieve anxiety and help cope with stressful events. Transport yourself by noticing as many senses as you can, including smell, sight, sound, touch and taste. If you imagine relaxing on the sand by the ocean, for example, think about the smell of salt water, the sound of waves, the colours you can see, the refreshing taste of a cool drink and the warmth of the sand and sun on your body.

Once you learn what your stress or anxiety response feels like, you can make a conscious effort to tap into your imagination or pay more attention to your actual surroundings, the moment you start to feel symptoms of distress.

Remember, as with any skill, your ability to engage and feel the benefits improves with practice. Amber will work with you to be patient with yourself. She won’t let your efforts to change your old habits or practice and master your skills become yet another stressor.
